- Signage Requirements
- Tow-away signs must display the tow company name, address, and phone number. Signs must be prominently posted at each vehicle entrance.
- Private Property Rules
- Property owner or authorized agent must request the tow. Vehicle cannot be towed more than 10 miles from where it was parked. Tow company must accept payment by credit card if the vehicle owner arrives at the lot.
- Right to Retrieve
- Owner can retrieve the vehicle before it leaves the property if they arrive before the tow truck departs with the vehicle. No drop fee may be charged if the vehicle has not been removed from the property.
- How to File a Complaint
- File complaints with the local county consumer protection agency. You can also contact the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services at 1-800-HELP-FLA.
